Gifts For Children
While picking up food to feed the Men at the Grace Center of Hope Men's shelter, we ran into another charity at Gordon Food Services. Lakepoint Church had already had their Christmas party and had 50 Lbs of Ham, Pulled Pork, and wrapped Christmas presents left over that was never opened. We swung by their pantry, picked up everything and delivered to the Women and Children's Shelter at GHC for their Christmas Party on Sunday. One charity helping another to help, yet another, that is what Men's Storehouse can do.
Truckload of Donated Household Items Picked up and Delivered
We met a young lady who had organized a Household goods drive from her neighborhood with several of her friends. They wanted to take the items to Humble Designs which uses them to furnish homes for recent Homeless people who have found a more permanent Apartment or House. However, they collected more than they could deliver, so Men's Storehouse volunteered to help them take 2 pick up trucks and 3 car's worth of goods. The kids got to see their efforts fulfilled.
Feeding the Shelter at GHC
While watching the news, we learned one of the charities we have helped in the past with Landscaping, lost their walk-in cooler. They were able to move the food to another shelter, but it left the Men's Kitchen at Grace Center's of Hope without meals for the week. We stepped up with a quick response, pickup 160 Hotdogs, 160 Hamburgers, buns, Frozen French Fries, and beans, brought it in and helped cook it all and serve it for the men. Kevin and Mark of Grace Centers of Hope told us that it is the volunteers who are the "hope" for those struggling to overcome addiction and regain their lives. Glad we had enough in "the Storehouse" to cover this event.
New Beginnings Church
We organized a work day, got a donation of 1/2 off the paint from Sherwin Williams Paint Store, and showed up with 6 of our men and got the job done.
